Race report ADAC Digital Cup 2024 Event 1 Spa Francorchamps GP 03.02.2024

At the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), races 1-3 of the ADAC Digital Cup 2024 took place on 03.02. The Ardennes roller coaster is once again the venue for the season opener, just like last year.

Race 1 Sprint 30 minutes

After the qualifying session, our Lotus Evora with starting number 106 enters the race from 5th position on the grid. Unfortunately, a technical issue on the part of the organizers forces our second team to watch from the sidelines. A stellar start propels our Lotus driver Jakob to 3rd place overall and leads him into Eau Rouge as the class leader. However, a collision with the second-placed Lotus occurs in the first lap. The resulting spin puts Jakob at the back of the first group. Over the following 13 laps, our No. 106 fights back to 8th place overall, which corresponds to 4th place in the Cup1 classification.

Race 2 Sprint 30 minutes

The second qualifying session sees sprint specialist Jakob securing 2nd place overall, which corresponds to pole position in his class. The white-green Lotus Evora maintains this position until the end of the race. Consequently, MSC Polizei BS celebrates its first class victory of the new season. After the technical issues with the simulator were resolved, the Audi TT with starting number 406, driven by Michael Görges, was able to start from the pit lane. Finishing in 29th place overall translates to 7th place in the Cup 4 class.

Race 3 60 minutes with driver-swap

The starting positions after the 3rd timed session of the event are 4th (2nd in Cup1) for the Lotus with starting number 106 and 23rd (5th in Cup4) for the Audi with starting number 406. The double race duration in the team race with a mandatory pit stop and driver change promises plenty of racing action. However, the tire strategy of Team Evora doesn't work out as planned, and Jakob and Michael R. finish the race in 6th place overall (4th in Cup1). Celine and Michael G. bring home 21st place after a consistent race (6th place in Cup4).
