HP Fuel Pump for Elise Mk2 Rover + Europa S
HP Fuel Pump for Elise Mk2 Rover + Europa S
Using the latest turning architecture and a very high build quality this unit outperforms the now obsolete OE Elise S2/VX series pump unit in every department.
This unit can support upwards of 400BHP NA at Elise rail pressures, importantly this is achieved through the turbine pump’s efficiency and NOT from a high power requirement that can cause fuel heating issues in some installations.
Unlike the OE S2 pump unit that uses an eductor system to refill the canister, this unit utilises a dual input similar to that used on the original S1 design. The pump can take fuel from either the canister or the tank directly, or both simultaneously. Unlike eductor driven pump units, this has several advantages: Virtually instantaneous HP output recovery from fuel starvation caused by fuel swash. Immediate recovery of the reserve canister refill cycle from empty as this is achieved by the pump itself via the refill ejection system. An eductor refill system by comparison would be stalled in this situation and unable to refill the canister until fuel enters the canister by gravity fill or swashing over the top.
Even when supplying the entire pumps output to the engine the pump will still fill the canister from empty to full in about 6 seconds, quicker at higher fuel rail pressures and quicker still as the return fuel is added to the canister when not at full power, about 4 seconds! This is easily the fastest refill we have ever tested, as a reference the original OE pumps eductor fed system takes around 12-15 seconds.
The canister has a larger capacity than the OE S2 unit, this means more reserve fuel is available during left hand corners. The OE 4-pin sockets have been responsible for several melted pump units and destroyed vehicles and are now obsolete, the new units have a new E85 compatible socket with connection pins several times larger. Latest sender design, not a wire wound rheostat. A new arm is supplied which will work correctly with both the OE and the ProAlloy tanks. The arm angle can be changed if preferred to adjust the reference “empty” reading of the Stack display. Despite the high power output these units are as quiet as OE units. This is mostly due to the advanced turbine blade design.
There is nothing to change on the car or recover from the old pump. The fuel connectors are identical. A new electrical jump harness will be included in the box if you obtained the unit through a dealer to allow full plug and play compatibility but we strongly recommend the old 4-pin components are completely removed from the vehicle and the new socket supplied connected directly to the vehicle harness. If the unit is supplied and fitted by one of our dealers this will be done for you.
