KOMO-TEC forged piston set for Toyota 2GR-FE V6

The pistons are among the most heavily stressed components of an engine. High acceleration forces, increasing cylinder pressures, and extreme thermal loads place high demands on materials and construction, especially in high-performance supercharged engines.

The KOMO-TEC forged piston set was specifically developed for the Toyota 2GR-FE V6. It is a standalone KOMO-TEC design, manufactured exclusively for us and is not identical to other pistons available on the market.

Optimized piston and ring design

In the stock pistons, damage can occur in the area of the valve pockets and breakouts at the ring lands between the piston rings under high load. To counteract these known weaknesses, the position of the ring pack in our forged pistons has been deliberately changed.

The new arrangement provides more material in critical areas. This reduces the risk of thermal breakdown at the valve pocket and helps prevent the breakout of the ring lands between the piston rings.

High-strength 2618 forged alloy

The pistons are forged from the high-strength aluminum alloy 2618. This material is particularly suitable for highly stressed racing and supercharged engines, as it can withstand high mechanical and thermal loads.

A special sliding coating on the piston skirts reduces friction and wear on the running surfaces. Additionally, the piston bottoms receive a thermal barrier coating. This heat protection layer reduces heat transfer into the pistons and protects the component at high combustion temperatures.

For planned power increases over 460 hp and as part of a performance-oriented engine revision, we recommend replacing the stock pistons with the KOMO-TEC forged pistons.

Important assembly note
