Nitron Control Arm Joint Bearing Kit with PTFE bearings

Production vehicles are typically equipped with rubber-metal bearings at the inner control arm mounts. These provide good noise and vibration isolation, thus meeting the requirements of a comfort-oriented production vehicle.

However, under high load, the elastic production bearings can deform. At the same time, the rubber element restricts the free rotational movement of the control arm. This can alter the wheel guidance and reduce the precision of the suspension.

The Nitron Control Arm Joint Bearing Kit replaces all inner rubber-metal bearings with high-quality 15-mm joint bearings with PTFE sliding layer. The result is a significantly more precise and consistent guidance of the control arms under load.

More precise wheel guidance

The spherical joint bearings reduce unwanted elastic movements at the inner control arm mounts. This keeps the intended position of the control arms more stable even under high lateral forces and braking forces.

The advantages are particularly evident in:

  • Sporty driving style

  • Quick direction changes

  • High cornering loads

  • Strong braking

  • Track days and racetrack use

  • Precisely tuned suspension setups

Steering commands are implemented more directly and the set axle geometry remains more constant under load.

15-mm joint bearings with PTFE sliding layer

The spherical joint bearings used have a low-maintenance PTFE sliding layer. This allows for controlled and low-friction movement of the control arm without the elastic deformation of a conventional rubber bearing.

In contrast to rubber-metal bearings, the joint bearings do not need to be preloaded or tightened in a specific rotational position. A preload dependent on the vehicle level is eliminated.

Precision spacers made of 7075-T6 aluminum

Each joint bearing is combined with precision-manufactured spacers made of high-strength 7075-T6 aluminum alloy.

The spacers are hard-anodized and feature integrated O-ring seals. These protect the bearings after installation from water, dirt, and other contaminants and support a permanently reliable function.

Completely sealed construction

The built-in joint bearings are effectively protected by the O-ring seals. The system is designed for maintenance-free operation and does not require regular relubrication when installed.

Scope of delivery

  • 14 × short joint bearing units

  • 2 × long joint bearing units

  • Precision-made spacers from 7075-T6 aluminum

  • Integrated O-ring seals

The two longer joint bearing units are intended for the front bearing positions of the rear lower control arms.

Advantages

  • Replacement of all inner rubber-metal control arm bearings

  • 15-mm joint bearings with PTFE sliding layer

  • More precise guidance of the control arms

  • Reduced elastic deformation under load

  • More consistent axle geometry

  • Free and controlled rotational movement of the control arms

  • No elastomer preloading required

  • No installation-dependent rotational position necessary

  • Precision spacers made of 7075-T6 aluminum

  • Hard-anodized surfaces

  • Integrated O-ring seals

  • Protection against water and contaminants

  • Maintenance-free construction

  • Especially suitable for track days and motorsport

Important installation note

The joint bearings are installed in the control arms with a precise interference fit. For installation, the bearings are usually pre-cooled so that they can be pressed into the prepared bearing seats properly and without damage.

We recommend using a water-resistant lithium-based grease during installation. A suitable lubricant is included in the separately available Nitron NTR R1/R3 installation accessory kit.

The installation requires extensive knowledge in chassis construction and may only be carried out by a qualified specialist company. Before assembly, control arms and bearing seats must be cleaned, measured, and checked for damage or corrosion.

After installation, all fastenings must be checked and a complete wheel alignment must be performed.

Important comfort and usage note

Due to the elimination of the elastic rubber-metal bearings, road noise, vibrations, and mechanical feedback can be transmitted more strongly into the vehicle.

The kit is designed for maximum precision and chassis control, making it particularly suitable for sportily used vehicles, track days, and motorsport applications.

The exact compatibility and legality for public road use must be checked based on the specific vehicle before ordering.
