KOMO-TEC performance phase ZR310 for Lotus Elise with 2ZR engine
The KOMO-TEC performance phase ZR310 represents the next stage of development after our proven performance phases ZR265 and ZR285. It was specifically developed for the Lotus Elise S, Sport 220 and Cup 250 with a 1.8-liter 2ZR supercharged engine.
With approx. 309 hp and 305 Nm, the ZR310 offers an increase of around 89 hp and 55 Nm compared to the standard vehicle. The result is a significantly enhanced performance with strong pull in the mid-range RPM and a considerably improved power delivery at high RPM.
Performance data
ZR310: approx. 309 hp and 305 Nm
Series: approx. 220 hp and 250 Nm according to factory specifications
Power increase: approx. 89 hp
Torque increase: approx. 55 Nm
The specified performance values may vary slightly depending on vehicle condition, fuel quality, environmental conditions, and dyno.
Complete engine conversion for more than 300 hp
The Toyota 2ZR engine already comes standard with a water-cooled intercooler and provides a good foundation for performance increases. However, for an engine output of more than 300 hp, the safety margins of the standard pistons and connecting rods are no longer sufficient.
For this reason, the ZR310 is not built on an unmodified production engine. The engine receives specially developed KT forged pistons and high-strength KT steel connecting rods.
These components are not simple replicas of the production parts made from a higher-strength material. Design, dimensions, and material cross-sections have been specifically modified to meet the higher thermal and mechanical loads of the ZR310.
Tuned crank drive
The KT forged pistons and KT steel connecting rods have been developed together as a tuned functional package. They form the robust foundation for the higher engine performance and the sustained loads that occur during track operation.
New connecting rod bearings, a complete engine gasket set, and ARP cylinder head studs complement the reinforced engine structure.
KT sport camshafts
Compared to the ZR285, the ZR310 additionally receives a set of specially tuned KT sport camshafts. The modified timing and valve lifts improve cylinder filling, especially at high RPM.
By individually controlling the camshaft phases, a strong and homogeneous torque curve is maintained in the mid RPM range.
Optimized intake and exhaust system
A KT sport airbox improves the air supply to the engine. On the exhaust side, a flow-optimized 4-in-1 stainless steel header replaces the standard component with its small pipe cross-sections and unfavorable pipe lengths.
The high-quality 200-cell sport catalytic converter from HJS reduces exhaust back pressure and, together with the header, forms a tuned system.
The result is an improved power and torque development with a sporty sound, without being unnecessarily intrusive during normal operation.
Modified supercharger ratio
Modified pulleys and a suitable ribbed belt increase the compressor performance. The supercharger ratio has been specifically tuned to the other components of the ZR310.
Optimized HKS spark plugs ensure reliable ignition under increased thermal and mechanical loads.
Freely programmable EMU-Black control unit
For the ZR310, a freely programmable EMU-Black engine control unit with wideband lambda control is used.
The individual tuning includes, among other things:
Ignition maps
Injection maps
Camshaft phase adjustment
Throttle valve characteristic
Intake air temperature compensation
Wideband lambda control
Individual sport function
This allows all relevant control parameters to be precisely adjusted to the modified engine and the used hardware components.
Optimal upgrade for existing ZR285 vehicles
The ZR310 is ideally suited as the next stage of development for vehicles already equipped with the performance phase ZR285.
Already installed and technically suitable components can be reused depending on their design and condition. The exact scope of the conversion will be determined after inspecting the vehicle and the existing components.

Performance report
The original engine will be reused
The original engine present in the vehicle serves as the basis for the ZR310 conversion. Therefore, the engine block, crankshaft, cylinder head, and all other reusable components must be in a technically suitable condition.
Mileage and maintenance history alone do not allow for a conclusive assessment. The actual suitability can only be determined after disassembly, cleaning, and measurement of the engine.
If wear, damage, or unacceptable dimensional deviations are found, additional processing or replacement parts may be required. These are not automatically included in the described standard scope.
Intercooler highly recommended
For the ZR310, we strongly recommend the use of our advanced intercooler system. This is especially true in high outside temperatures, repeated full-load driving, and in track use.
A powerful intercooling system reduces thermal stress and supports consistent performance values during longer driving intervals. The exact scope of the required cooling system must be determined based on the vehicle and its intended use.
Mandatory sports muffler
For the performance phase ZR310, the use of a suitable sports muffler is mandatory.
Not all mufflers available on the market are compatible with the system. Therefore, the suitability of the existing or planned muffler must be checked before starting the conversion.
Important operating and break-in note
The newly built engine must be broken in according to the specified break-in procedure. Load, RPM, and operating conditions must be strictly adhered to during this phase.
Even after the break-in phase is completed, engine oil level, operating pressures, temperatures, air-fuel ratio, and other relevant parameters must be regularly monitored. The specified maintenance intervals must be strictly followed.
Important approval note
Motorsport kit – not street legal!
The performance phase ZR310 is not approved for use in public road traffic under the regulations of the StVO/StVZO. It is intended solely for motorsport and use on closed tracks.
