KOMO-TEC Chassis FreshUp for Lotus Elise
The KOMO-TEC Chassis FreshUp is a comprehensive overhaul of the suspension of your Lotus Elise. Not only worn bearings and joints are replaced, but all relevant suspension parts are disassembled, cleaned, inspected, and refurbished to a high standard.
The result is a completely revised suspension system, both technically and visually, with more precise handling, improved feedback, and a noticeably fresher overall condition.
Why a suspension FreshUp makes sense
The Lotus Elise already has very sporty driving characteristics as standard and is often driven accordingly. Sporty road trips, track days, high lateral accelerations, and the increasing age of the vehicle significantly stress bushings, ball joints, bearings, and fastening parts.
Worn or loose suspension components can manifest themselves through the following symptoms, among others:
Imprecise steering response
Unstable straight-line driving
Variable driving behavior under load
Reduced feedback through the steering
Rattling and clunking noises
Uneven tire wear
Inaccurate alignment and camber values
The suspension FreshUp not only improves the driving experience but also makes an important contribution to driving safety and value retention.
Complete disassembly and inspection
At the beginning, the control arms and the other suspension components included in the package are completely removed and disassembled.
Subsequently, all components are thoroughly cleaned and checked for damage, deformations, corrosion, and unacceptable wear. Only after this inspection does the actual refurbishment begin.
If damaged or unusable components are identified, we inform the customer before further processing. Additionally required spare parts or repairs are not automatically included in the standard scope.
Preparation of the control arms
The disassembled steel control arms are completely sandblasted. This reliably removes corrosion, old coatings, and dirt.
Subsequently, the control arms receive a durable plastic coating. The coating is available in the following colors according to customer specifications:
Silver
Black
The high-quality surface treatment protects the control arms from corrosion in the long term and also provides a like-new appearance.
New suspension bushings made of silicone material
The standard rubber bushings are replaced with new suspension bushings made of a firmer silicone elastomer.
Compared to the softer standard bushings, these bushings reduce unwanted movements of the control arms under load. This makes wheel guidance more precise and the vehicle responds more directly to steering and load changes.
The firmer design particularly improves:
Steering precision
Feedback to the driver
Tracking stability
Driving stability under load
Controllability during sporty driving
The bushings remain elastic enough to ensure good usability on the road.
New ball joints in Lotus original quality
All ball joints are renewed as part of the suspension fresh-up. We exclusively use ball joints in Lotus original quality with the mechanical properties specified for the vehicle.
This keeps the steering light and precise even after the conversion. Problems with stiff steering, as can occur with unsuitable accessory ball joints, are avoided.
New screws and fastening parts
All suspension bolts disassembled during the work are replaced with new fastening parts.
These include:
Screws
Nuts
Washers
Required self-locking fastening elements
This ensures that corroded, damaged, or previously stressed fastening parts are not reused.
Reconditioning of stabilizer and retaining clips
The stabilizer and its retaining clips are also removed and reconditioned. The components are cleaned, inspected, and then re-coated.
This also provides reliable corrosion protection and a visually high-quality surface for these less visible suspension components.
Reconditioning of axle carriers
The axle carriers are also disassembled, cleaned, inspected, and reconditioned according to their material composition.
For steel axle carriers, the processing includes:
Cleaning
Inspection for corrosion and damage
Sandblasting
New durable coating
For the Lotus Elise Mk1 with aluminum axle carriers, the component is gently glass bead blasted. This removes dirt and surface oxidation without unnecessarily attacking the aluminum.
Assembly and complete suspension alignment
After completion of the preparation, all components are assembled with the new bushings, control arms, and fasteners.
Subsequently, a complete chassis measurement is performed. The adjustable values are professionally checked and adjusted:
Toe on front and rear axle
Camber on front and rear axle
Steering wheel center position
Symmetry of the axle geometry
Plausibility check of the chassis values
The adjustment is made according to the vehicle and the intended use. This allows the potential of the overhauled suspension to be fully utilized.
Optional wheel bearing package
For a complete overhaul of the entire suspension, the "wheel bearing" package is available as an option.
This includes the renewal of all wheel bearings and wheel flanges of the vehicle. This also fully incorporates the rotating bearing components into the overhaul.
The wheel bearing package is particularly recommended for:
High mileage
Unknown maintenance history
Detected bearing play
Noise from the wheel bearings
Frequent track use
The desire for a complete overall solution

The exact scope of work and the required components vary depending on the model, year of manufacture, axle carrier design, and any modifications already made. Therefore, the vehicle configuration must be checked before placing the order.
Important Note
The described standard scope assumes that the existing control arms, axle carriers, stabilizers, and other reusable components are technically repairable.
If cracks, severe corrosion, deformations, damaged threads, or other safety-relevant defects are found during disassembly, additional repairs or replacement parts may be necessary. These services will be charged separately after consultation.
