ECUmaster EMU Black Plug-and-Play ECU for Lotus Elise 2ZR from 2011
The ECUmaster EMU Black is a fully programmable, standalone engine management system for the Lotus Elise with Toyota 2ZR engine from 2011. The vehicle-specific KOMO-TEC version is delivered as a plug-and-play solution and requires no additional engine wiring harness.
The control unit allows precise adjustment of engine control for both standard and performance-enhanced vehicles. Depending on the vehicle configuration, power, torque, responsiveness, and drivability can be specifically optimized.
Plug-and-Play for the Lotus Elise 2ZR
The EMU Black connects to the existing connectors with the standard engine wiring harness. No changes to the engine wiring harness are required, and the original vehicle sensors can still be used.
A vehicle-specific mounting plate is included and allows for a clean and secure installation in the vehicle.
Suitable for
Lotus Elise S with 2ZR engine from model year 2011
Lotus Elise Cup 220
Lotus Elise Cup 250
Lotus Elise Cup 260
Other Elise variants with 2ZR engine after technical inspection
This description applies to the plug-and-play version for vehicles with 2ZR engine. Compatibility with other Elise and Exige engine configurations must be checked separately.
Fully programmable engine management
The EMU Black takes over the control of, depending on vehicle configuration and programming:
Fuel injection
Ignition timing
Electronic throttle
Variable camshaft control
Wideband lambda control
Boost pressure and additional functions
Traction control
Optional launch control
Ignition and injection maps as well as the VVT control can be freely adapted to the respective engine and vehicle configuration. This makes the control unit suitable for both standard engines and extensive performance modifications.
Base mapping included
The control unit is delivered with a vehicle-specific KOMO-TEC base mapping. This provides a suitable basic configuration for the commissioning of the engine.
The base mapping does not replace individual tuning for the components actually installed. Before high engine load or track use, all relevant operating parameters must be checked and the tuning adjusted if necessary.
Wideband lambda control with LSU 4.9
The delivery includes a Bosch wideband lambda sensor of type LSU 4.9. In conjunction with the integrated wideband lambda control, it enables precise measurement and regulation of the air-fuel ratio.
An integrated MAP sensor further expands the tuning options. External control units for processing these signals and the associated additional wiring are not required.
Integration of factory functions
The vehicle-specific plug-and-play solution allows for the retention of important factory functions:
Factory Lotus display
RPM and speed display
Factory shift light
Original vehicle sensors
Model-dependent traction control
CAN bus communication
The intake air temperature can be included in the control for vehicles equipped accordingly. For vehicles without an intake air temperature sensor, this can be optionally retrofitted.
Comprehensive CAN bus communication
Through the CAN bus, the EMU Black can communicate with external devices and vehicle systems. This includes, for example:
ABS systems
Freely configurable displays
AIM displays and data loggers
MoTeC systems
Racelogic systems
Other compatible CAN bus devices
This allows engine and vehicle data to be transmitted to external displays or recording systems.
Data recording and evaluation
The ECUmaster software offers extensive options for diagnosis, control, and optimization. Relevant engine parameters can be recorded during operation and subsequently evaluated.
For data recording, either a laptop must remain permanently connected to the engine control unit or a suitable external data storage device or CAN data logger must be installed.
Standalone, permanent data recording without a connected laptop or additional storage medium is not possible. A laptop and an external data storage device or data logger are not included in the delivery.
Robust construction
The housing of the ECUmaster EMU Black meets the IP65 standard. This makes the control unit protected against dust and water jets and suitable for demanding operating conditions in Lotus and motorsport.

Individual test bench tuning
Installation and individual tuning can be carried out in-house on our dynamometer. The engine management will be precisely adapted to the existing hardware components and the intended purpose.
Power, torque, and response behavior depend on engine condition, hardware configuration, fuel, and individual tuning. Simply installing the control unit does not result in a defined increase in performance.
Important note regarding the delivery item
When ordered as a pure delivery item, installation, individual programming, test bench tuning, and further technical support are not included.
The supplied base mapping serves solely as a starting point. Comprehensive technical and programming knowledge is required for installation, commissioning, and individual tuning. These tasks must be performed by a suitably qualified specialist company.
Note on approval
The replacement of the engine control unit and changes to the engine tuning may affect the vehicle's operating permit. The legality and any necessary approval for public road use must be checked before the modification.
