Titanium valve spring retainers for Toyota 2GR V6
The reinforced titanium valve spring retainers were developed for sportily used and performance-enhanced Lotus models with Toyota 2GR-FE V6 engine. They replace the standard steel valve spring retainers and significantly reduce the moving mass of the valve train.
The lower mass improves the control of valve movement at high RPMs and reduces the mass inertia within the valve train. At the same time, the tendency for unwanted vibrations and resonances can be reduced.
The set includes all 24 valve spring retainers of the engine.
Reduced mass in the valve train
As engine RPM increases, the acceleration forces in the valve train increase significantly. Every gram saved on valves, retainers, and other moving components reduces the forces that the valve springs must control.
Titanium combines high mechanical strength with a significantly lower weight compared to the standard steel retainers. This makes titanium valve spring retainers particularly suitable for:
High engine RPMs
Very sporty driving style
Performance-enhanced engines
Frequent full-load operation
Track days
Racetrack use
Engines with reinforced valve springs
Engines with modified camshafts
Improved control of the valve train
Due to the reduced moving mass, the valve train can follow the camshaft profile more precisely at high RPMs. The valve springs have to accelerate and decelerate less mass, creating additional reserves against uncontrolled valve movements.
The titanium valve spring retainers thus support a stable valve train and complement our reinforced valve springs into a coordinated system for demanding operating conditions.
Use in engines from model years 2009 to 2017
In Toyota 2GR-FE engines from model years 2009 to 2017, the titanium valve spring retainers can generally be used without further modifications with the standard valve springs.
However, for sporty applications, performance-enhanced, or regularly track-driven vehicles, we also recommend the combination with our reinforced valve springs for these model years.
Important note for engines from model year 2018
In engines from model year 2018, the titanium valve spring retainers may only be used in conjunction with our reinforced valve springs.
The reinforced valve springs are not part of this set and must be ordered separately:
Reinforced valve springs
Part number: 2207-006a
Contents of valve spring set: 24 pieces
Before ordering, the actual model year or the version of the engine must be clearly checked.
Combination with reinforced valve springs
In conjunction with our reinforced valve springs, a valve train system designed for high RPMs and dynamic loads is created.
The titanium valve spring retainers reduce the moving mass, while the reinforced springs provide a higher spring force. This combination improves valve control and creates additional safety reserves at high RPMs, rapid RPM changes, and demanding track use.
Suitable for
Lotus Exige S3 V6
Lotus Evora
Lotus 3-Eleven
Lotus Emira V6
Other Lotus models with Toyota 2GR-FE engine subject to technical inspection
Exact compatibility must be checked before ordering based on vehicle model, year of manufacture, engine code, and valve train configuration.

Important installation note
The installation involves a safety-relevant component of the valve train and may only be carried out by a qualified engine specialist.
Before installation, valves, valve springs, retaining clips, valve guides, and camshafts must be checked for condition and compatibility. Installation height, spring preload, remaining spring travel, block dimensions, and all mechanical distances must be checked according to the technical specifications.
In the case of modified camshafts, increased maximum RPM, or modified cylinder heads, the complete clearance between valves, pistons, spring retainers, and valve stem seals must also be checked.
Important note
The titanium valve spring retainers improve the conditions for a controlled valve train at high RPMs, but do not automatically increase the permissible maximum RPM or engine power.
The permissible engine speed depends on the complete engine assembly, the valves and valve springs used, the camshafts, the mechanical clearance, and the engine control.
