With the KT-7 Speed, KOMO-TEC offers a sequential 7-speed claw gearbox specifically developed for the Lotus Exige V6 and the Lotus Evora. Designed for the highest loads in motorsport, it combines extremely short shift times with low weight and high durability.

As standard, these models come with a manual 6-speed H-pattern gearbox or – for the IPS models – with an automatic transmission with torque converter. The KT-7 Speed replaces these systems with a motorsport solution consistently designed for maximum performance.

The non-synchronized, straight-cut claw gearbox allows for fast and precise gear changes without the comparatively long traction interruptions of a conventional gearbox. At the same time, the risk of a missed shift is reduced. Despite its straight-cut design, the KT-7 Speed operates surprisingly quietly for a motorsport gearbox.

Specifically developed for Lotus

Unlike universal motorsport transmissions, the KT-7 Speed was specifically designed for the Lotus Exige V6 and the Lotus Evora.

The standard drive shafts, the clutch, and the engine-side mounting points can be reused. Extensive customization work is eliminated, reducing assembly effort and installation costs.

Two shifting systems to choose from

The KT-7 Speed is available with a classic sequential gear lever or an optional electro-pneumatic paddle-shift system.

The sequential gear lever provides a particularly direct and mechanical motorsport feel. The paddle-shift system allows gear changes via paddles on the steering wheel without having to take your hands off the wheel. This can particularly improve vehicle control and shifting speed on the racetrack.

Individual gear ratios

Five different gear ratio options are available for the KT-7 Speed. The transmission is configured to match the vehicle, engine power, and intended application.

Options include short ratios for maximum acceleration on circuits or in hill climbs, as well as long ratios for high-speed vehicles with a potential top speed of over 300 km/h.

Adjustable limited-slip differential

The integrated lamellar limited-slip differential features an externally adjustable preload – a special feature in this gearbox class.

The preload can be adjusted to up to 13 kg. Additionally, the ramp angle can be individually configured. By default, the ramp angles 53/0° and 40/0° are available.

This allows the driving behavior to be specifically tailored to the tires, driving style, and track characteristics.

Maintenance

For exclusive use on racetracks, the recommended revision interval is about 5,000 km.

Our Recommendation

For maximum performance and high durability, we recommend the combination with the KOMO-TEC aluminum lightweight flywheel including sintered metal sports clutch.
